International students will be required to take at least one in-person class to keep their visas, at a time when many universities are prioritizing online instruction.
Gavin YameyTrump to U.S. universities: you MUST increase the risk of causing suffering & death on and off campus by having in-person teaching. You MUST promote suffering & deaths or else international students lose their visas. nytimes.com/2020/07/07/us/… via @NYTimes

(Reuters) - U.S. coronavirus task force response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx said that the United States and other countries could have had a stronger initial response to COVID-19 if China had been more forthcoming about key...
Gavin YameyReally disappointing to see Dr Birx go full-on MAGA. Federal government dithered for 6 weeks after @WHO told all nations to get ready, to set up test & trace, to prepare for isolation & quarantine. Trump gave the virus a free pass to spread unchecked.
Its decision to carry on in the face of the pandemic has yielded a surge of deaths without sparing its economy from damage — a red flag as the United States and Britain move to lift lockdowns.
Gavin Yamey"Sweden’s grim result — more death, and nearly equal economic damage — suggests that the supposed choice between lives and paychecks is a false one: A failure to impose social distancing can cost lives and jobs at the same time."
With hospitals filling and PPE running low, it’s like April all over again. Here’s what Americans – and their leaders – must do
Gavin Yamey"It’s crystal clear that Covid-19 won’t “just disappear”, as President Trump said this week – and the pandemic certainly won’t end if wishful thinking continues to be our federal response plan."
Country has third highest number of cases in world after 25,000 new infections recorded a day

Grandad’s Apples N’ Such has not opened its doors for the season quite yet, but Henderson County residents and others from Western North
Gavin YameyDear @LtGovDanForest: your irresponsible rejection of scientific evidence could cost the lives of North Carolinians. When you said at a July 4 rally, with little social distancing & few masks, that "masks do not work with viruses," it was harmful garbage.
Every student who come to campus in the fall will be asked to submit to viral testing every three days, as well as report symptoms to university health officials, wear a mask and keep physical distance from peers.
Gavin YameyGOOD! @Harvard is taking the right steps to avert suffering & death. Harvard President Lawrence Bacow “acknowledged that ‘there is an intrinsic incompatibility’ between the university's tradition of in-person learning and the need for social distancing.”
