Back in 2012, inspired by @michael_nielsen and @jonathanstray, I wrote a blog post envisioning a future wherein scientists got "personalized" recommendations for papers to read.

Reflecting on my thoughts from 7 years ago, however, the ethical and legal challenges of recommendations based on "agency" are much harder than I thought.
It's fun re-reading this, six years later, after @PubChase, @F1000Research, and @meta have come onto the scene.
