taking a big stand against the fake followers polluting the digital ecosystem. Great step forward which strengthens the industry - I hope to see more following.
Chinese state media giants
each lost (most probably the same) 700,000 followers from their Twitter accounts overnight. The followers they "bought" with Twitter ads remain.
Should’ve happened earlier but great to see a platform take a financial hit to clean up its product

"The number of followers displayed on many profiles may go down" as Twitter removes locked accounts from follower numbers. Celebrity accounts likely to lose heavily, not nec. because they bought bots, but because bots often follow them to look human.
And there it is: Yesterday, I had just over 256,000 followers. Today, I find I now have 243,740, give or take.
