1. Here is my most sustained criticism of "social justice ideology" (there is no good name for it, so for now I will call it radical progressivism). Why am I so alarmed by this ideology?
Bo Winegard () is one of the most thoughtful and fair-minded essayists around today and this critique is well worth your time
“Contemporary progressivism is a selectively blank slate ideology. It is eager to posit genetic causes for obesity, addiction &, homosexuality, & only becomes skeptical of genetic explanations when they contradict sacred values or policy preferences.”
An incredibly lucid and thorough rebuke of social justice progressivism by Bo Winegard (). A must read. "We should be wary of promoting an ideology that dresses our demons as avenging angels and relishes the righteous suffering they cause."
“We should be wary of promoting an ideology that dresses our demons as avenging angels and relishes the righteous suffering they cause.”
"...this tendency to moralize inquiry has likely thwarted progress in the social sciences & has potentially created entire disciplines whose chief function is to provide theoretical support for progressive ideology"
"Contemporary progressive thinking is premised upon a profoundly inaccurate view of human nature. Many have suggested that this view is 'blank slatism,'…However, it is, more accurately, a selectively blank slate ideology,” writes .

“I am no longer skeptical. I have come to believe that the hostility to the West embedded in this kind of thinking & activism is a serious and growing problem. It is critical that we understand the motives that drive it and the conditions that enable it.”
“Contemporary progressive thinking is premised upon a profoundly inaccurate view of human nature. Many have suggested that this view is “blank slatism,” … However, it is, more accurately, a selectively blank slate ideology”
“El progresismo contemporáneo es selectivamente tablarrasista: postula causas genéticas para obesidad, adicción u homosexualidad pero se vuelve escéptico de las explicaciones genéticas cuando parece q contradicen valores sagrados o preferencias políticas”
Disparaging scholars who pursue taboo topics might be temporarily satisfying, but it is ultimately damaging to the entire scientific enterprise, which requires us to steadfastly protect the pursuit for truth whatever its discomforts.
“We should be wary of promoting an ideology that dresses our demons as avenging angels and relishes the righteous suffering they cause, ” says in "Progressivism and the West"
I'll post it just once more. My fear of "radical progressives" is that they believe that: "The wheel of righteousness must crush some butterflies on its path toward a better tomorrow."
Lots of good points to think about in this piece from the always thoughtful .
