L'Arche founder Jean Vanier dies
He was renowned for his work helping people with learning difficulties, and those who assist them.
Jean Vanier: Founder of L'Arche has passed away. When he was awarded the Templeton Prize in 2015 Archbishop
said Vanier “turned society’s assumptions about the strong and the weak upside down”.
“There are now 147 L'Arche centres in 35 countries, where people with and without disabilities live together as equals. Those the world considers weak, through their disabilities, are those who bring hope and strength lived out in community....”
