Asda sacks worker 'for sharing Billy Connolly video on Facebook'
Former Asda employee Brian Leach admitted that the post was offensive and he apologised to colleagues who were upset
The increasing number of instances of people being dismissed or disciplined for what they post on social media - in many cases on their personal pages - raises massive questions about our rights to legally express our own views and opinions
Corporations extending their authority over employees to expressions of Wrong Think during non-work hours is something it seems worth resisting - now, while we still can.
This is appalling. An Asda worker has been sacked for sharing a video on Facebook of Billy Connolly mocking religion. What is happening to free speech in our country? We are becoming more like East Germany every day. The offendotrons are winning.
. asda Asda's firing of an elderly and disabled man who posted a Billy Connolly clip criticizing religion on his Facebook page is reprehensible. And your stores even SELL the video containing that clip. What is wrong with you? Please rehire the man.

This is outrageous! You shouldn't be sacked because you shared a joke about religion that some may find "offensive". Are people honestly comfortable with corporations having this kind of power over you because of your speech. Or is it all "freeze peach"? 😒
I am sure sacking him will promote religious tolerance of suicide bombers and child abusing priests as nothing to do with religion. We must not joke these things make many of us wish religion would just go away.
