Climate change’s warmer winters apparently mean more wasp “super nests.”
so this is nightmare fuel
Alabama has a wasp super nest problem and I’m shook
Um, 'warmer winters' are producing 'super nests' the size of a VW bug with 15,000 wasps inside
I finally got a chance to read this article. Turns out the #climate is warming and yellow jackets are making it through the winter. Chalk up another climate impact.
I thought wasps were supposed to stay in upscale suburbs, drinking martinis. Seriously, this report really creeps me out.
Ok, let's reframe the #climatechange discussion... Burning fossil fuels is warming the planet and leading to massive swarms of wasps to attack your BBQ, sting your children, and ruin your July 4th holiday.
You don't say. "Officials are warning residents to get professional help in removing such nests and not do it themselves." // "Officials Warn of Wasp ‘Super Nests’ in Alabama"
“Notmally, a surviving queen will have to start a colony from scratch in the spring. With our climate becoming warmer, there might be multiple surviving queens producing more than 20,000 eggs each.”
YET ANOTHER REASON TO BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT ALABAMA
“Warmer winters contribute to these nests.” 🐝
I swear I played no role in this... 🤥
