Leana Wen, who was ousted by Plannned Parenthood, writes NYT op-ed that will embolden the organization’s biggest critics. Says she “faced daily internal opposition” in trying to shift PP’s mission away from abortion.
"We need to stop treating those whose views differ from our own with scorn & suspicion"
Revealing op-ed from the recently fired head of Planned Parenthood, Leana Wen
Pretty hard to avoid the conclusion, from the op-ed from the ousted head of Planned Parenthood, that the organization has fully embraced a wholly politicized, abortion-uber-alles identity.
I have no inside scoop on internal Planned Parenthood politics, but man, Wen’s op ed is a gift to the anti-abortion movement. It is genuinely difficult to imagine how a champion for abortion—what she was hired to be—could think to publish that.
Leana Wen on leaving Planned Parenthood: "Will the conversation continue to be dominated by a vocal minority from both ends of the spectrum, or can there be space for those of us in the middle to come together around shared values?"
