Fine new article by Mary Sarotte on a key decision that affects our relations with Russia today. How to Enlarge NATO: The Debate inside the Clinton Administration, 1993–95
1. Just finished reading fascinating account of the US decisions that led to NATO expansion. Two thoughts follow. First - her suggestion that a different form of expansion (with proper development for PfP) might have integrated Russia better.
Fascinating article on NATO enlargement by the great : "Supporters of a relatively swift conferral of full membership to a narrow range of countries outmaneuvered proponents of a slower conferral of limited membership to a wide range of states."
