This idea isn't as crazy as the headline makes it seem. This a smart geopolitical move.
The United States has a compelling strategic interest in Greenland, and this should absolutely be on the table.
In conversations with aides, Trump has—with varying degrees of seriousness—floated the idea of buying Greenland, WSJ reports. Trump has asked advisers whether the U.S. can acquire Greenland and reportedly asked his W.H. counsel to look into the idea.

I have no idea what to think of this but I suspect it has a lot to do with the Mercator projection

- Greenland is EU overseas territory
- Greenland citizens are EU citizens
- Most of exports (~90%) to EU
- Greenland is autonomous but Danish gov't retains control of foreign and defence policy

This is a Trump initiative I support. I've always wanted to try living in a Scandinavian country, and to be able to do that without leaving Southern California would be a dream come true.

This is great idea. It can be the 53rd state (after DC and Puerto Rico), adding 6 almost certainly democratic senators. And when they realize the US is largely responsible for its destruction from #climatechange, they can sue in US courts.

This piece kind of buried the lede: "Greenland is technically part of North America." And what's with the "technically?"
The serious point to make here is that state territory is not property and to treat it as such is to reject democratic and republican norms in favour of monarchical and feudal ones.
