CNN Exclusive: The US extracted one of its top spies from Russia in 2017, worried about exposure and Trump’s handling of intelligence
The CIA feared Trump would expose a highly placed asset: “the removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that...Trump & his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence & could contribute to exposing the covert source.”
Holy crap. In a previously undisclosed secret mission in 2017, the US extracted one of its highest-level covert sources inside the Russian government, largely b/c they feared Trump would out him as a spy.
BUT. HER. EMAILS. "The removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy." #mondaymorning #filthymouthedwife
Did the CIA pull an asset out of Russia because Trump can’t shut up?: Exclusive: US extracted top spy from inside Russia in 2017 - CNNPolitics
CNN: U.S. extracted a top spy from Russia in part due to "concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy."
WOW: In secret mission in 2017, the CIA extracted one of its highest-level covert sources inside the Russian government out of concern Trump would expose the identity of the asset 🚨
This is disturbing & no surprise. No words to describe how devastating & costly this is to our intel community. Exclusive: US extracted top spy from inside Russia in 2017 - CNNPolitics
So you mean, we had a high level source inside the Russian govt that verified details of the operation against the United States in 2015/16, and POTUS and his advisers know and don't care, and that's why the IC is on edge? Great reporting by
NEW: The U.S. extracted a high-level covert source from Russia in part due to concerns that President Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the source as a spy ()
"The decision to carry out the extraction occurred soon after a May 2017 meeting in the Oval Office in which Trump discussed highly classified intelligence with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak."
My jaw is on the floor. The U.S. removed one of its high-level covert sources within the Russian government shortly after Trump revealed classified info to Russians in the Oval Office in 2017, out of concern that the spy could be outed.
Pompeo's CIA exfiltrated our most highly placed agent in Moscow, apparently concerned that Trump would reveal the person's identity to Putin or other officials.
Incredible reporting from my colleague about real life consequences in American national security
astonishing, unprecedented and once unthinkable: CIA extracts a spy from Russia because it fears the president will expose him
"the removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy."
Crazy that CNN let anti-Trumper report this. Keep in mind that Sciutto was on the false story about Cohen having info on Trump discussion Trump Tower meeting. But also, this doesn't square up:
If you read this in a novel, you'd say, "Sure glad this could never happen."
3B. The rest of the story degenerates into the typical anti-Trump diatribe from Sciutto, who served in the Obama regime as the chief of staff to the US ambassador in Beijing (!). You can read it here if you wish to waste a few minutes
Good God almighty: “the removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy...”
CNN quotes a “former senior intelligence official” in this story. Does it have an obligation to disclose if that official is one of its own analysts?
Trump is the US's biggest national security risk
