Democracy Diverted: Polling Place Closures and the Right to Vote

’s sister org just released a major new voting rights report. The analysis found 1,688 polling place closures in areas with a history of voting discrimination that were formerly covered by Section 5 of the VRA.
According to a 2019 report from
’s sister org, Georgia has closed 214 polling places since the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. Georgia counties closed higher percentages of voting locations than any other state in the study.
