To eradicate #polio, the world will have to stop using oral polio vaccine, which contains live but weakened viruses. The first attempt to phase out one component of the vaccine is proving to be more difficult than expected in parts of Africa.
Brava to for revisitng the polio vaccine "switch" (removal of strain 2 from OPV, in 2016)! This was widely reported at the time — but this is the best coverage I have seen on the morass that has become of using only bivalent OPV.
