At a leadership training for women at Ernst & Young, women were told their brains are smaller than men’s, not to be shrill and to avoid showing skin at work because “sexuality” scrambles the mind”
Before they got to the seminar, women had to rank themselves on this masculine/feminine scoresheet. Feminine traits include "gullible" "childlike" "shy" Masculine include "ambitious" and "acts like a leader"
"Women’s brains absorb information like pancakes soak up syrup so it’s hard for them to focus, the attendees were told. Men’s brains are more like waffles. They’re better able to focus because the information collects in each little waffle square."
"When women speak, they shouldn’t be shrill. Clothing must flatter, but short skirts are a no-no. After all, “sexuality scrambles the mind.” This was some of the advice offered at a women's empowerment training at Ernst & Young last year" via
Please tell me this isn’t true 😱When women speak, they shouldn’t be shrill. Clothing must flatter but short skirts are a no-no. After all, “sexuality scrambles the mind.” Advice offered at a women's empowerment training at Ernst & Young last year.

Beyond Belief: Ernst & Young training presentation told female executives they must wear "well cut attire that compliments their body shape", their brains were 6% to 11% smaller than men’s, “sexuality scrambles the mind”. And these firms advise others!

When women speak, they shouldn’t be shrill. Clothing must flatter, but no short skirts since “sexuality scrambles the mind.” Women should have a “good haircut” and “manicured nails.” Female Ernst & Young executives got these tips at a June 2018 training.
This is Ernst & Young now called EY advising women employees how to behave so as to not distract men. In 2018. Unbelievable. Anyone who uses the firm now should explain why.
Instructing women how to dress & act for success is an example of 'fixing the women'. It relies on the misguided assumption that women only need to try harder to succeed. Instead, orgs should focus on fixing their culture by creating inclusive environments.

This is very good reporting by that will make you throw your phone across the room
"If you’re having a conversation with a man, cross your legs and sit at an angle to him. Don’t talk to a man face-to-face. Men see that as threatening."
This story about the seminar E&Y subjected its women employees to reads like an artifact from the 60s, but this happened in 2018. You'd think E&Y would have the good sense not to document their institutional sexism in epic detail, but apparently not.
I don't tell women to "act nicely around men" or try to fix women employees to fit into a male-dominated culture. Unlike Ernst & Young was doing as recently as last year. #Allyship #BetterAllies

Fuck. When women speak, they shouldn’t be shrill. Clothing must flatter, but short skirts are a no-no. After all, “sexuality scrambles the mind.” This was some of the advice offered at a women's empowerment training at Ernst & Young last year.
Words just can't express how angry this twisted, abusive garbage makes me. There are people who make a lot of money convincing young women that there is something deeply, essentially wrong with them.
Can't stop thinking about Ernst & Young telling its woman executives this *in 2018*
“Women’s brains absorb information like pancakes soak up syrup so it’s hard for them to focus. Men’s brains are more like waffles. They’re better able to focus because the information collects in each little waffle square.” WTF
Shocking but not surprising. In 2018, y’all. #LadyLawyerDiaries
Really, #Ernst&Young? “sexuality scrambles the mind" and women should look healthy and fit, with a “good haircut” and “manicured nails”?
Note: Even though the ostensible purpose of this training was career success, women were discouraged from behaviors that help gain power and leadership roles, such as speaking up or showing ambition.
this presentation isn't dramatically different from things I'd hear at Bible college

On why apparently women are pancakes, men are waffles. And other advice for women who work at Ernst & Young.
You can't make this stuff up "When women speak, they shouldn’t be shrill. Clothing must flatter, but short skirts are a no-no...sexuality scrambles the mind.” Advice offered at a women's empowerment training at Ernst & Young last year. via
This story is 🍌🍌🍌. byeeeeeeeee. Ladies. According to them we have smaller brains. We should avoid speaking to men face to face. Etcetera. Etcetera.
This story by about a corporate women’s leadership course is appalling. Women were asked to rate their feminine & masculine traits before the seminar. Challenge to #womeninmedicine & beyond: what ACTUAL traits remind you of women leaders?
Some context. Whoever wrote that needs their credentials revoked both on neurology and on syrupy foodstuffs
