The BBC has just written a story about research showing that *88%* of Tory adverts this election are misleading or lies, while none of Labour's are. How have they framed it? 'General election adverts are dishonest.' Beyond ridiculous.
Study finds 88% of Conservative ads and zero Labour ads are dishonest and untruthful. BBC: they’re all as bad as each other
The news story here, which the BBC for some inexplicable reason have buried in the article, is that 88% of Tory ads were found to misleading, compared to 0% for Labour. The Tories are objectively running a campaign of lies
In this study, 88% of paid-for Tory Facebook ads were misleading compared with 0% of Labour ads. This should be the headline . This election the have become a shameless disinformation machine.
88% of adverts are lies. 0% of ‘s.
For Labour: 0% of adverts were misleading For the Tories: 88% of Tory adverts were misleading BBC response: “You’re both as bad as each other..”
88% of Conservative ads contain lies as opposed to 0 Labour ads so the obvious conclusion is they’re all as bad as each other.
CONs: "88% (5,952) of the party's most widely promoted ads featured claims .... not correct or not entirely correct" LDs: "hundreds of potentially misleading ads featured identical unlabelled graphs" LAB: "could not find any misleading claims in ads"
’The study found 88% of Conservative ads contained lies’ Today a foreign company beyond the reach of British law will make millions from spreading lies at an industrial scale in election critical for Britain’s future. We have to fix this. Please vote
This title itself is 'indecent, dishonest and untruthful' The findings were that 88% of Conservative ads were found to be untrue /partially true. That was the case with 0% of Labour ads. *THAT IS A HUGE STORY* - and ⁦⁩ buried it deep.
Buried in the article you find that 88% of Tory ads are indecent, dishonest and untruthful. Vs 0% for Labour You'd think that 2 days before an election this would be an important headline Apparently not. Feels oddly dystopian that facts no longer matter
Why is this story, which states that 88% of Tory ads this campaign are false or misleading, hidden in the Technology section of the BBC website and NOT plastered across the news home page? btw, none of Labours were found to be misleading 🤷‍♂️
Lies re Brexit, 50k nurses, 40 hospitals Faked video, fact check site Fake news re pic of 4-year old, assault on adviser Bots to spread fake news Suppressed Russia report 88% of Tory ads are lies 88%! “1984” isn’t a warning for Tories. It’s a manual.
This is extraordinary reporting. You have to get past the headline, standfirst and 18 paras of text before learning what you'd think would be the quite important nuance that a study found 0% of Labour Facebook ads misleading (Tories: 88%)
88% of Conservative Facebook ads contain false claims.
‘Indecent, dishonest and untruthful' Surely we are better than this #GE2019
I try hard to avoid sinking into “pro-Tory BBC conspiracy” thinking, but contrast the headline, which would be reasonably taken to indicate all parties are at equally fault, with the facts: 88% of Tory FB ads were misleading; none of Labour’s were.
Just look at this. An investigation found 88% of Tory adverts were misleading. And a large number of LibDem adverts also (the barcharts). It could find *no* Labour adverts which were misleading. None. What heading does the BBC give to this?
For those who think both sides are liars: 88% of Conservative ads were found to be misleading or outright wrong, while 0% of Labour's ads were deemed misleading
Fuck me the state of this. The absolute state of this. 88% of ads are 'indecent, dishonest and untruthful' 0% of are Zero.
This is the story here: 👉 for the Tories, 88% (5,952) of the party's most widely promoted ads flagged as ‘not correct or not entirely correct.’ 👉 for , the report said that it could not find any misleading claims in ads run over the period
So hang on a sec... 88% of Tory electoral ads are bullshit. 0% of Labour electoral ads are bullshit. Let's run a story about how electoral ads are just generally bullshit? I call bullshit.
Hi . What the fuck is this please? 88% of Tory ads contain lies as opposed to 0% of Labour’s, and this is your fucking headline? Seriously? It’s weird how hard you’re working to get Johnson elected considering he’s threatening to shitcan you.
It's a tragedy that the BBC is so cowed by fear of Tories chopping them up and selling bits off that this article buries the lede that 88% of Tory political ads mislead as compared to 0% for Labour. Still, they published it, which is better than nothing.
JUST INCREDIBLE!!!! The article says 88% of Tory election ads have been found to be untruthful and ZERO Labour ads and yet LOOK at BBC headline! WHAT IS GOING ON ? General election 2019: Ads are 'indecent, dishonest and untruthful'
In fact, 88% of the "most widely promoted" Tory ads contained falsehoods; "hundreds" of Lib Dem ads contained "identical unlabelled graphs" implying false election results; and "it could not find any misleading claims in ads run over the period" by Labour.
General election 2019: Ads are 'indecent, dishonest and untruthful' Get this: the BBC find that 88% of Tory online ads are deceitful, and NONE of Labour's are, so they... tar everyone with the same brush?! Headline *should* be about the Tories!
This good piece on the utter shamelessness of the Conservative and Liberal Democrat ad campaigns is let down by a headline that implies that the problem is evenly distributed across all of politics
The Tories and the BBC have a Fake News problem. 88% of Tory ads "Misleading". 0 Labour ads found "misleading"
NEW from me and - General Election Ads are 'indecent, dishonest and untruthful'. Group for political advertising reform calling for fact-checking to be a legal requirement. 87% of voters surveyed agree. #GE19
They're all as bad as each other if you only read the headline and the first three or four paragraphs, as we're fairly confident most people will do.
88% (5,952) of Tory's most widely promoted ads either featured claims which had been flagged by independent fact-checking organisations as not correct or not entirely correct. They could not find any misleading claims in ads run by Labour over the period
Wow. Study finds 1000s of Tory lies (88% of their ads!), 100s of Lib Dem ones, but Labour came out pretty clean
88% of Tory adverts on Facebook over 4 days in early December contained lies. That's a total of 5,982 adverts. Yes, you read that correctly, 5982 lies in 4 days. Is that a party you would trust in government? #VoteTacticallyNotTribally on Thursday!
87% of voters, a poll in this study suggests, want there to be a law to control the claims made in online targeted ads
General election 2019: 88% of the Conservative party's most widely promoted ads either featured claims which had been flagged by independent fact-checking organisations including BBC Reality Check as not correct or not entirely correct...
The damage done: General election 2019: Ads are 'indecent, dishonest and untruthful' - BBC News
88% of Tory election ads were dishonest. 0% of Labour ads were. Why did the BBC bury this fact in a piece with this grossly misleading headline?
Election ads: 'Indecent, dishonest and untruthful'
“88% (5,952) of the ⁦’⁩ most widely promoted ads either featured claims which had been flagged by independent fact-checking organisations including BBC Reality Check as not correct or not entirely correct.” They lie all the time.
As says: This is buried in the technology news section. It should be across front page and politics. 88% Tory social media adds misleading. 0% of Labour ads are. #Election2020
