Removing restraints on pollution *during a respiratory pandemic* is quite literally the opposite of what should be doing right now.
E.P.A., Citing Coronavirus, Drastically Relaxes Rules for Polluters
The E.P.A. announced a sweeping relaxation of environmental rules in response to the coronavirus pandemic, allowing power plants, factories and more to decide whether to report pollution — what a former administrator called “an open license to pollute.”
Because who needs clean air during a pandemic that attacks your respiratory system? Or after?
This is outrageous, though given that it follows the pattern set by a China a few weeks ago, relaxing regulations to juice its recovery, the US probably won’t be the last country to back away from environmental issues coming out of the covid crisis.
Air pollution regulations when a respiratory virus is spreading seems... more important? Right? E.P.A., Citing Coronavirus, Drastically Relaxes Rules for Polluters
Two very important ones today from NYT's Climate desk: 🐱🐭 In a wild cat-and-mouse game, federal scientists and Trump officials are … oh, just read it. By 🏭☁️☁️☁️ What pollution rules? By
I’m willing to bet that this works out well for America’s most irresponsible polluters, but proves to be a disaster for the rest of us. ⁦⁩ ⁦⁩ ⁦⁩ ⁦⁩ ⁦⁦
This shouldn't go unnoticed. As we're fighting a public health crisis, Trump is continuing to roll back environmental and public health protections. Utterly shameless.
How do the geniuses at Trump’s EPA respond to Americans dealing with a deadly respiratory disease? They allow power plants and factories to spew even more air pollution! Absolutely obscene.
As if bailing out #ecocide wasn't bad enough, now the US is granting open license to pollute??! This is a health crisis. Now, more than ever, we must care for our the health of our future - not poison it! #ActNow #RebelForLife
The EPA announced a sweeping relaxation of environmental rules in response to the coronavirus pandemic, allowing power plants and factories to determine for themselves if they are able to meet legal requirements on reporting air and water pollution.
This is total BULLSHIT. is now "allowing power plants, factories and other facilities TO DETERMINE FOR THEMSELVES if they are able to meet legal requirements on reporting air and water pollution."

Now — when all Americans are rightly focused on their health & safety — is the wrong time for to make the ill-advised decision to relax #publichealth & environmental protections. This is dangerous for people & wildlife.
This is an open license to pollute. Plain & simple. The administration should be working to make our country healthier right now. Instead it is taking advantage of the #COVID19 public health crisis to do favors for polluters that threaten public health.
A global pandemic is not the time to allow power plants & factories to break the law and pollute without recourse. This will put more human lives at risk. The early inaction to stop the spread of COVID-19 should be a lesson: Listen to the scientists.
Brazen, complete open license to pollute for an unlimited time. The GOP is using the pandemic as an opportunity to destroy this country for the last bit of profit they can squeeze out of it.
It is shameful that the EPA is using #COVID19 as an excuse to allow polluters more leeway to dirty our air an water. These regulations help protect us and should remain in place.
Now would be a very good time to stop tweeting posts about COVID-19 closures are bringing down pollution levels.

People across the country, often the most vulnerable, still die every day because of pollution. Friends in the oversight world: Let's ensure, during this crisis, that the USG isn't allowed to further abdicate its responsibility for securing public health.
“That means allowing power plants and other facilities to decide on their own if they are meeting air and water pollution requirements.” Swell idea.
