This is grim and distressing. My mum and many others take hydroxychloroquinine as the cornerstone of autoimmune disease treatments. She can't get her regular prescription because of this. If you're considering trying to get hold of it, please don't.

My little sister has lupus & depends on this. She ran out & my cousin did an emergency dash in Ldnn to pick up some up for her. He then had to post it north to her. It took 1 day for the drug to arrive; in the meantime she had a full blown lupus episode.
This is why large scale (1000s of people), randomised controlled trials, with adaptive robust designs & sharing of data is so vital. I would want to be enrolled in such a trial if I were to be infected.
