“Your days are short here; this is the last of your springs. And now in the serenity and quiet of this lovely place, touch the depths of truth, feel the hem of Heaven. You will go away with old, good friends. And don’t forget when you leave why you came.”

Sad to hear of the death of Don Kennedy. Had some interesting conversations with him when Editor of Science

news.stanford.edu/?p=33639 via @Stanford. Kennedy was extremely generous and kind to me when I was a star-eyed undergraduate at Stanford. He was an inspiration for my own teaching and work within the community and I remain grateful.
Don Kennedy, 8th president of Stanford, FDA Comm'r, dead at 88 news.stanford.edu/2020/04/21/don… To me, a good friend & man. Serious health problems for the last 4 or 5 yrs & not fully himself. But I will and do miss him.
Huge loss. DK was the prez of @Stanford, editor-in-chief of @ScienceMagazine, head of @US_FDA. But his biggest accomplishment was falling asleep in a 1:1 meeting with me as an undergrad, then waking up and asking an insightful question.
