Anarchist activists, many from outside New York, have used the protests as cover for a campaign of property attacks, according to NYPD officials, reports @NeilMacFarquhar.
“John Miller, the deputy commissioner in charge of the Police Department’s counter-terrorism and intelligence efforts, said “They prepared to commit property damage and directed people who were following them that this should be done selectively...”
via @NYTimes I know we don’t want to hear, know or acknowledge this, but there were organized anarchist in at least NYC not working for the right. John Miller is a wildly credible counterterrorism source- hero of 9/11 reporting.
I was nodding along with most of this article til I got to "violent showdowns in the 1990s between white supremacists and law enforcement in places like…Waco." What white supremacists in Waco, @NeilMacFarquhar? The Branch Davidians were multiracial.
“We’re going to see a diversity of fringe malefactors,” said Brian Levin, director of Cal State’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism. “We know for a fact there have been far-right agitators both online and at these rallies, as well as far-left.”
“The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization,” Mr. Trump tweeted on Sunday. “There is no authority under law to do that,” said Mary B. McCord, a former head of the Justice Department’s National Security Division.
This analysis of Antifa is just lame. Many terrorist groups are more a 'milieu' than a single united group. There are many small and large jihadi groups for example. Many versions of the IRA have come and gone, one after the other.
