Protester pushed to ground by police is longtime peace activist from Amherst
The Buffalo News
Martin Gugino, 75, was in serious but stable condition at Erie County Medical Center as of Thursday night, according to police.
The Buffalo News reports that the 75-year-old man pushed to the ground is a longtime peace activist who has recently supported Kings Bay Plowshares, a group of anti-nuclear activists convicted of entering a nuclear submarine station in Georgia.
*This tweet is completely irresponsible. *Martin Gugino is a long-time peace activist who has campaigned for nuclear disarmament and climate change. *"He’s a gentle person who really believes that he must stand up for what he thinks is right.”

Martin Gugino, 75, is "a gentle person who really believes that he must stand up for what he thinks is right...That’s why he went to the demonstration. ... He’s a bit frail, not because of his age. He has some health problems."
so many awful stories, but this one sticks out for some reason
The protestor #MartinGugino is from Amherst, NY, a suburb of Buffalo (where I’m from). Amherst is named after Lord Jeffrey Amherst, who came up with the idea to infect indigenous people with smallpox blankets. They did not teach us this history in school.
This is the 75-year-old man that police almost killed in Buffalo yesterday. "He’s a gentle person who really believes that he must stand up for what he thinks is right."
