NEWS: CDC declares COVID-19 out of control in the US. 5 months after the president calls the pandemic a hoax 2 months after declaring it is over. And that is why it is out of control.
CDC official: "As much as we've studied [the 1918 flu pandemic], I think what we're experiencing as a global community is really bad and it's similar to that 1918 transformational experience."
CDC official: “This is really the beginning.” Says it will be similar to 1918.
You didn’t hear from Anne Schuchat before this because she and other real experts at CDC were gagged by . “CDC says U.S. has ‘way too much virus’ to control pandemic as cases surge across country”
Fighting Covid was always going to be hard. There's much we can do. We must support contact tracing with innovative methods; double down on actions at high risk settings like food facilities, congregate settings; educate the public on reducing Covid risk.
“This is really the beginning,” Schuchat said of the U.S.’s recent surge in cases. “I think there was a lot of wishful thinking...that, hey it’s summer. Everything’s going to be fine. We’re over this & we are not even beginning to be over this.”
Again from Anne Schuchat from CDC, the most forthright statement from a US official to date: "I think what we’re experiencing as a global community is really bad and it’s similar to that 1918 transformational experience.”
Happening far too quickly. Not too long ago I was talking to the media about how we are worried that the many sparks in a forest of leaves would explode in the Fall, when coronaviruses usually peak. But it's happening now - not even the fall season yet
Among many bad signs about COVID in the U.S., one good sign is that the CDC's Anne Schuchat is being allowed to talk in public again. I hope is next.
A brutal pandemic reality check from Dr. Anne Schuchat, #2 at CDC: “This is really the beginning...there was a lot of wishful thinking around the country that, hey it's summer. Everything's going to be fine...We are not even beginning to be over this.”
8. “#Coronavirus spreading too rapidly and broadly in U.S.” Dr. Anne Schuchat . “We’re not #NewZealand, #Singapore or #SouthKorea where a new case is rapidly identified, all contacts are traced, sick are isolated, and exposed are quarantined.”
This reminds me of Dr Messonier’s warning in late February that we were probably going to have to close schools. She was basically never heard from speaking to the press again, but she was right.
Just a stark reality check from the CDC’s No. 2 official, who has rarely been quoted on the pandemic
As it turns out hiding, from Mother Nature didn’t work. She found us. Looks like we are going to get to Natural Herd Immunity despite the WHO and CDC’s best efforts to keep us vulnerable until a vaccine was found. #CoVidiots #GoingHerd #BeBrave
The coronavirus is spreading too rapidly and too broadly for the U.S. to bring it under control, Dr. Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Monday.
CDC says U.S. has 'way too much virus' to control pandemic as cases surge across country
Hey , ...don’t you wish we’d warned them on TV on a *daily basis* that this would probably happen if they opened too soon? Oh, wait. We did.
My takeaway from ’s Anne Schuchat is that we’re not even in 1918 yet. We’re firmly in 1917 territory here in the US and need to be prepared that it’s going to get a lot worse.

So essentially we didn’t do basic Infection Control 101. Who should be held accountable?
The coronavirus has proven to be the kind of virus that Schuchat and her colleagues always feared would emerge, she said. She added that it spreads easily, no one appears to have immunity to it and it’s in fact "stealthier than we were expecting."
stocks up tho

#COVID19 is at one end of a seesaw while our country is at the other...#NYC/#NJ were the first to be impacted and were able to tilt the seesaw of #COVID19 down. But now #COVID19 is tilting back up as the country opens and is gaining foothold 1/
