#COVID19 deaths in England may have been significantly overestimated by PHE assigning #COVID19 as the cause of death to anyone who ever tested positive. This may also explain the unusually high proportion of 'out of hospital setting' deaths in England.
Unbelievable. One of the UK's leading statistical experts says an anomaly is distorting death data in England
Anyone who tests positive for covid but later dies *of any cause* is still included on the coronavirus death figures
No-one can ever recover

I read this and was appalled. It's from Oxford's CEBM & two very talented Professors @carlheneghan & Prof Loke.
I just can't believe PHE could be so incompetent - it's scandalous.
Read for yourselves.
Judgement reserved until PHE comment- @PHE_uk?

Todos los países del mundo enfrentan sus propias dificultades con respecto a la medición de morbilidad y mortalidad por #COVIDー19. Aquí el ejemplo de Inglaterra. Why no-one can ever recover from COVID-19 in England – a statistical anomaly - CEBM
YOU: But governments wouldn’t make such glaring mistakes, much less implement draconian policies based on such mistakes!
ME: What are you, 8 years old?
Why ( and how) England must fix the statistical flaw that is currently resulting in exaggerating the number of COVID-associated deaths.cebm.net/covid-19/why-n… via @cebmoxford
This is extraordinary. If it's right (the authors are reputable academics) PHE is recording everyone who dies having had the coronavirus as a Covid fatality - even if they recover and then die of something else. No wonder England's figures look so bad.
"A patient who has tested positive, but successfully treated and discharged from hospital, will still be counted as a COVID death even if they had a heart attack or were run over by a bus three months later."
Lazy.
the CEBM post (cebm.net/covid-19/why-n…) is important, it may partly explain why England deaths are stubbornly high, & I hope PHE take it into account for future numbers, but "some people were diagnosed with Covid, recovered, then got hit by a bus" doesn't explain away many deaths
Perhaps one to categorise under 'lies, damn lies, and statistics': Why no-one can ever recover from COVID-19 in England – a statistical anomaly cebm.net/covid-19/why-n… via @cebmoxford
