In new tapes, President Trump admits to Bob Woodward he concealed critical details he knew about the coronavirus. "I wanted to always play it down."
Woodward, after spending 18 interviews with Trump, concludes Trump is "the wrong man for the job."
In new tapes, President Trump admits to Bob Woodward he concealed critical details he knew about the coronavirus. "I wanted to always play it down."
NEW: CNN has obtained Bob Woodward’s new book Rage, in which Trump admits he knew weeks before first US coronavirus death it was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and repeatedly played it down publicly
🚨"Woodward reports new details on Russia's election meddling, writing that the NSA and CIA have classified evidence the Russians had placed malware in the election registration systems of at least two Florida counties, St. Lucie and Washington."
Woodward's book includes an anecdote where an aide to Mattis heard Trump say, "My f---ing generals are a bunch of p*****s" because they cared more about alliances than trade deals. Mattis asked the aide to document the comment in an email to him.
Trump knew how deadly the virus was. He deliberately lied to the American people about it. Nearly 200,000 people, their families, and our entire country are paying the price.

Trump to Woodward Feb. 7: "It’s also more deadly than your -- you know, your -- even your strenuous flus...This is 5%, versus 1% percent and less than 1%." Trump to Americans Feb. 26: "This is a flu. This is like a flu."
"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward of coronavirus on February 7. Weeks later, on March 19, he said, "I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic."
I am confused. If you are a COVID truther are you supposed to now say that the virus is deadly. Or is it still a hoax. Pls advise.

. started receiving briefings on the danger of COVID-19 back in February as a member of the Senate Intel committee. He spent the next few months downplaying the threat, tweeting bad jokes, and wasting crucial time. Over 14,000 Texans are dead.

⁩ & I have been saying this for weeks. Now we have audio recordings proving it. Trump knew COVID was deadly & dangerous early on. He didn’t act on it. Public statements dismissed it & his internal directives slowed the govnt response.
Note this when Trump, Barr downplay Russian election interference: “..NSA & CIA have classified evidence the Russians had placed malware in the election registration systems of at least two Florida counties” which “could erase voters in specific districts”

“Here's Donald Trump basically proving to us in real time that he can't be trusted with the nation’s…secrets,” former DHS official says about Trump’s remarks divulging information about a “weapons system.”
Listen to the recording.

Trump to Woodward on COVID: "I wanted to always play it down." Trump admitted that coronavirus was 5 times deadlier than the flu, yet he continually mocked the idea publicly. I didn't vote for either in 2016. I'll be voting Biden this year. #TrumpKnew
Lordy, CNN also has the tapes!

Trump claimed--and Woodward says he confirmed--a US new secret nuclear weapons system. I have no idea...
Nearly 190,000 Americans are dead. Trump knew how deadly this virus was and chose to downplay and lie to the American people. Trump’s lack of moral leadership during this time of crisis is truly unforgivable.
"The NSA and CIA have classified evidence the Russians had placed malware in the election registration systems of at least two Florida counties..."
What sort of moral reckoning should be demanded of a reporter who knew Trump was lying through his teeth about the threat of Covid in February, but only reports the fact 190,000 deaths later?
Cool thanks for sitting on this while Americans preventably died
A must read on the new Woodward book where the most damning words are from Trump. He’s been lying to the public for months for his own political purposes and risking thousands of lives in the process.

"It goes through the air. That's always tougher than the touch. You don't have to touch things. Right? But the air, you just breathe the air and that's how it's passed. And so that's a very tricky one...."this is deadly stuff."" DJ Trump (Feb 7 2020)
The lack of alarm that this man can launch a nuclear strike remains baffling to me...
“I wanted to always play it down.” From the beginning, President Trump has ignored warnings and allowed this virus to spread unchecked. This president’s reckless and irresponsible actions are costing American lives.
NEW: President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly.
Let’s just be clear. Ok? The president of the United States KNEW ABOUT A DEADLY DISEASE AND HID THAT FROM YOU AND LIED ABOUT IT AND DELAYED THE RESPONSE. now 200,000 Americans are dead. That’s what happened. He admits it. You were in danger and he knew...
The president admits what we all know: he’s been lying to Americans about the coronavirus from the very beginning.

Lordy, there are tapes.
Another book with the inside scoop of how bad Trump is at being President.
PRRI data from 2019 shows that 46% of Republicans wish Trump’s speech and behavior were more consistent with that of previous presidents; 74% of independents and 88% of Democrats agree.
There can be no doubt. Trump lied about the dangers of covid. It is just that simple.
"Woodward concludes his book with a declaration that 'Trump is the wrong man for the job.'" From this story
Kushner described a book to best understand the Trump presidency as "Alice in Wonderland" and seems to have compared his father in law to the Cheshire Cat
Dan Coats "continued to harbor the secret belief, one that had grown rather than lessened, although unsupported by intelligence proof, that Putin had something on Trump"... Coats felt, "How else to explain the president's behavior?"
Whoa. “Woodward concludes his book with a declaration that ‘Trump is the wrong man for the job.’” This is a legitimately surprising normative conclusion for someone like Woodward to state flat out.

Trump lied, people died (and continue to). Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus. Watergate was peanuts in comparison.

One thing I am still puzzled by. Early on POTUS knew facts about Coronavirus—in the February audio tape (before first death) he says the virus is airborne. It was April when Fauci/CDC were still guiding about touching hands, face, not shaking hands.🤔

'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book.
Will be joining this morning and talking to Alisyn Camerota & about the new tapes in which Trump admits to Woodward that he knew in early Feb coronavirus was “deadly”... in March saying  "I wanted to always play it down."
For some odd reason I sense that the Woodward book will not help Trump with older voters who are fearful of COVID. The point about revelations like Woodward's is that they make it harder for Trump to come back since they harden sentiment against him.
Incredible: Woodward has Trump on tape at start of pandemic saying he knows how deadly #COVID19 is- but will hide truth from public. This is callous manslaughter on massive scale. Still happening every day- Trump will kill many hundreds thousands more.
Recordings demonstrate that Trump understood exactly how deadly coronavirus was at the beginning of the epidemic, and he deliberately downplayed it. Part of this "downplaying" included kneecapping the US coronavirus response.

When G.W. Bush became the first sitting president to give Woodward an interview, it worked in Dubya's favor, b/c it obliged Woodward to put reams of ridiculous presidential spin into his book. But Trump appears to be a compulsive self-incriminator.
If you're smart enough to know how important our national security secrets are, you should be absolutely fucking terrified that Trump is president right now.
“... in early February, Trump told Woodward he knew how deadly the virus was, and in March, admitted he kept that knowledge hidden from the public.”
Trump concealed what he knew about the deadliness of the virus in early Feb. Woodward concealed his knowledge of Trump's deception by waiting until now to publish. Bolton didn't want to spoil his book sales either, & so didn't testify during impeachment.
Woodward writes that Coats "continued to harbor the secret belief, one that had grown rather than lessened, although unsupported by intelligence proof, that Putin had something on Trump."

“Play it down.” How do the family and friends of nearly 200,000 Americans who have died from Covid-19 feel about that?
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the administration's top infectious disease expert, is quoted telling others Trump's leadership was "rudderless" and that his "attention span is like a minus number." "His sole purpose is to get reelected," Fauci told an associate.
