“It went from a peaceful march, calling out the names, to all of a sudden, bang, ‘How dare you fly the American flag?’ They said take it down. They wouldn’t leave. They said they’re going to come back and burn the house down.”
Hard to imagine anything better for the Trump campaign than for these protests to continue until election day. Is anyone on the Left thinking about politics anymore?
NYT: "The marches in Portland are increasingly moving to residential and largely white neighborhoods, where demonstrators with bullhorns shout for people to come 'out of your house and into the street' and demonstrate their support."
Black Portland resident: “They wouldn’t leave. They said they’re going to come back and burn the house down.” An important new report by on the Portland BLM-antifa protests & riots that are occuring mostly in residential areas now
I went to Portland and heard the complicated, varied perspectives on the protests and what it means when neutrality is not an option
NY Times admits rioters are coming into residential neighborhoods
If you’re going to act like the Manson Family, don’t be surprised if other people want it to end like the fight scene in Once Upon a Time In Hollywood

The ongoing Portland protests are an example: having lost any clear purpose, they have become entirely self-referential. Their purpose is now their own purposeless self-perpetuation. They are now protesting the existence of people who are not protesting./7
“We don’t go around terrorizing folks to try and force them to do something they don’t want to do,” said Mr. Moses, whose nonprofit group provides support for local homeless people. “I’m a veteran. I’m for these liberties.”
'Confrontational' protests move into residential neighborhoods... “I Want To Kill Cops Until I’m Dead”
"The more personal tactics echo those being used against elected officials, with activists showing up not only outside mayor’s offices but their homes as well."
First, the lead photo looks 100% "white". Second, always read : "demonstrators with bullhorns shout for people to come “out of your house and into the street” and demonstrate their support."
You know the "anti-fascist" protest tactics have gotten a little too Cultural Revolution-y when even the NYT is now permitting mild journalistic criticism
just your humble tweeter's opinion, but this is a bad way to expand a political coalition
Hard to believe these aggressive, scary protests by black-clad white people in white residential neighborhoods don’t include agents provocateurs & informers. A dream come true for Trumpists. via ⁦

Some Protests Against Police Brutality Take a More Confrontational Approach
Still thinking of this from : “The crowd was — I won’t even say mostly white — I’ll say it was an almost exclusively white crowd marching through the whitest neighborhood in Portland shouting ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘Black Lives Are Magic’,”
“The crowd was — I won’t even say mostly white — I’ll say it was an almost exclusively white crowd marching through the whitest neighborhood in Portland shouting ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘Black Lives Are Magic’”
Threatening people with arson unless they lower the American flag on their porch? What genius devised *that* tactic for winning people to a cause?
This article suggests that protesters are more interested in tearing stuff up in Portland rather changing specific laws and policies that give rise to police brutality.
Nothing wrong with confrontational tactics per se, but very little of this seems to feature a plausible theory of change.
What could possibly go wrong? Seems like a winsome political strategy!

Coercive demonstrators say they own their protest. But they don't live in a bubble. They also own the backlash.

Thanks & my city is a disgrace. “They came to my home and said take it (American flag) down, or they’re going to come back and burn the house down.” - Mr Moses, a Black veteran in Portland The DA & Mayor don’t care, Mr Moses.
Good reporting on the unrest in Portland, which doesn't sugar-coat the ugliness of some of the protestor tactics.
"more aggressive protests target ordinary people … who decline to demonstrate allegiance to the cause … frustrated that little has changed … say that sitting idly and watching a protest without participating nowadays is to show tacit support for racism"
The most concerning trend is this one - the insurrectionary left has decided that (what I would call) civilians must show their support and are physically threatened if they don't comply. This could get very bad, and much of msm are turning a blind eye. >
The comments on this article converge on the same view: "Bring in the National Guard and if you don't, I'll shoot them personally."
