“There would be no CRISPR without Francisco Mojica — literally. The microbiologist, at the University of Alicante in Spain, helped to give the system its name” ⁦⁩ #CRISPR #Mojica
Huge congratulations to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna for the #NobelPrizeinChemistry for #CRISPRCas9
attn scientists: taking a phone call from me at 2:50am is 100% correlated with winning a nobel prize. but seriously: what a testament to doudna's work ethic. i certainly wouldn't have taken a call from me at that hour.
From a peculiarity to a defense system in bacteria and archaea to a revolution in gene editing: congrats to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna (and their teams, past and present)!

'Nature' no se olvida de Mojica. "There would be no CRISPR without Francisco Mojica".
I'm genuinely glad recognizes that many people worked on CRISPR. But I cannot recall ANY comparable discussion in the scores of times that two (or more) men won the Nobel. Does it take women winning for people to notice everyone else?
It's been an exciting week for some of our Members. In addition to Monday's announcement, we're thrilled to also extend our congratulations to Academy Members Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier for their Nobel Prize:
So glad I can tell my three boys this evening that two women won the Nobel prize in chemistry. It's inspiring for all future scientists. #WomeninSTEM
Such a great Nobel Prize. Well deserved and given on time, not many years after the discovery. The impact of their work has been transformative. And it is great to see that a technique that we now use routinely in the lab is supported by a Nobel Prize.
. got to tell Jennifer that she won the Nobel for #CRISPR today #ChemNobel
